China, Russia to strengthen parliamentary cooperation

China and Russia aim to strengthen their parliamentary cooperation. The Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, Wu Bangguo, reached the consensus with Russian State Duma Chairman, Boris Gryzlov during their meeting in Moscow on Thursday. The two leaders also attended the third meeting of the cooperation committee between the NPC and the Duma.

During talks between Wu Bangguo and Gryzlov, the Duma Chairman spoke highly of Wu's earlier meetings with Russian President Dmitri Medvedev, and Russian Federation Council Chairman Sergei Mironov.

Gryzlov said the meetings were fruitful. And he added the talks will help push forward cooperation between the two countries, and deepen the relationship between their parliaments.

Wu Bangguo said the cooperation between the NPC and the Russian Parliament should serve the interests of bilateral ties. In particular, such cooperation should first serve the strategic mutual trust and the interests of the common concerns of both China and Russia.
