Qin Kai, Zhang Sen win men's 3m springboard diving

News from the China National Diving Championships preliminaries, where Qin Kai, champion of the Beijing Olympics in the men's three meter spring board, paired up with teammate Zhang Sen of Shaanxi to snatch the title in the same event on Monday.

Qin Kai had been training with the national team all this time, and had only 10 days to work with Zhang Sen before the Diving Championships.

But despite this, the pair did a remarkable job during the competition. Their steady performance plus some home advantage gave them the lead right from the start, and sent them all the way to the top of the podium with a total score of 460.68 points.

Qin Kai, men's meter springboard champion, said, "We didn't strain ourselves for the gold and actually were just aiming to be in the top three. We're satisfied with the way things went considering that we'd had only 10 days to prepare."

In the women's 10-meter platform that followed, Sichuan's Hu Yazhou was looking to win starting from the second round, and made that aim a reality with a total of 417.85 points.
