Despite that difference, the two men showed great unison on the men's 10-meter platform to win the gold. That was one of two golds on the day...the other produced by world champion Wu Mingxia. She lived up to her name to win the women's three-meter spring board over yet another world champion - He Zi.
To the odd coupe first, Lin Yue paired up with Cao Yuan for team Beijing for the Championships, and although their height keeps them apart, their collaboration was outstanding, the pair taking the lead right from the start.
Huo Liang, who won the same event in the 2008 Beijing Olympics with Lin Yue, didn't appear in his form with his Shanghai teammate Ying Hong, and it wasn't until round 5, that the pair managed to bring themselves up to the second spot.
But the pair trailed Lin Yue and Cao Yuan by over 24 points, a gap that would prove to great to cover. For the final routine, both pairs chose a routine with a high difficulty level of 3.8, the Shanghai pair scored 99.18 points, while the odd couple got a whopping 102.60 points, which firmly put them on top of the podium.
Lin Yue said, "With our differences in height and capability, we did a pretty good job today, and especially, he went along with me perfectly."
In the women's three meter spring board final, the spot light was on two former world champions - veteran Wu Mingxia and He Zi. Wu Mingxia eventually won the title with a 3.3 point advantage over He Zi.
