2009-06-21 14:37 BJT

A blast in East China's Anhui Province has killed 16 people and injured 44 others. The accident happened at a factory compound owned by the Changxin Mining Company in Fengyang County early on Sunday morning.

Rescue operations and an investigation are still underway. The injured have been sent to hospital. Most of the dead are factory employees, but because the factory compound is located near a

residential neighborhood, quite a few of the injured are villagers.
