Fake photos used to cheat public

According to Huanqiu.com netizens, in an interview with Al Jazeera Satellite TV Station on Youtube, Rebiya used a photo of the police to "prove" how the Chinese police dealt with "peaceful demonstrators" in Urumqi. But the photo is actually about police handling a mass incident in Shishou, Hubei Province this June.

Using clues provided by netizens, Global Times reporters found the video clip which was uploaded on to the YouTube on July 7. The video shows Rebiya tried to prove she had nothing to do with the violent crimes involving beating, smashing, looting and burning in Urumqi on July 5, and at the same time she maliciously attacked China for its crackdown on the so-called "peaceful demonstrators."

When asked what she thought about the pictures of Han girls being attacked on the streets in Urumqi by Al Jazeera Satellite TV Station reporters, Rebiya answered, "My people carried out peaceful demonstrations. They acted very calmly." She then showed a large photo she had prepared intentionally, saying, "My people were surrounded by Chinese soldiers. How could they have launched attacks?" Following careful checks, Global Times reporters confirmed that the so-called "evidence" shown by Rebiya has nothing to do with the July 5 incident in Urumqi as netizens had revealed. The photo was originally part of a story posted on Nfdaily.cn on June 26, 2009, under the headline "Seesaw battle to 'snatch corpse' in Shishou."

Rebiya's hoax has angered Chinese netizens. One netizen said that not only does Rebiya's ridiculous fraudulent scheme fail to gloss over her hypocritical "peaceful" face, it is also a serious insult to the intelligence of people around the world. The hoax has led the international community to question the credibility of her claim that she "had nothing to do with the 7.5 incident in Xinjiang."
