Mango festival kicks off in Guangxi

BEIJING, July 26 -- The Tiandong Mango Festival began Saturday in Tiandong County of Baise City, south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, attracting more than 50,000 visitors.

Tiandong is known for rich fruit and vegetable resources.

The festival aims to attract businessmen and visitors from all over the world to promote the county's mango culture.

A Mango bazaar and a China Mango Industry Development Forum will be held during the event, which wraps up on Monday.

Lu Zhenggui, chairman of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce of Tiandong County, said, "We want to show various Tiandong's mango products at the festival, and hope to boost our mango industry."

At the previous festival, a total of 18 projects worth 8.5 billion yuan (1.2 billion U.S. dollars) were signed, covering the building materials, paper, metallurgy, logistics and electronics industries.
