Nick Cheung, who won the award for Best Actor at the 2009 Hong Kong Film Awards for "Beast Stalker," has now earned additional recognition at the 13th Puchon International Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea. Cheung says he's quite happy to receive the award and hopes his fans continue to support him in his upcoming projects.

He is neither a handsome guy, nor a huge star. Nick Cheung is a Hong Kong actor who has been in show business for 20 years. He has played a variety of roles from gangster, mob leader, alternative guy, and police officer to family man. Cheung is difficult to typecast.

Garnering the Best Actor nod at this year's Hong Kong Film Awards marked the late bloomer's first time to hoist the prestigious trophy.

Nick Cheung often dreamed of being a policeman as a child and his wish was fulfilled at the age of 17. Four years later, he applied to become an undercover agent. He felt that only plainclothes cops were real policemen. His request was rejected by superiors, however, as the station was short of personnel. He was frustrated and decided to quit.

Nick Cheung never imagined that he would one day enter Hong Kong's show business industry. An unexpected opportunity came when an old friend working as a director at a movie production firm asked him to join his team. He accepted the offer immediately. Two months later, the firm was planning to shoot a film about Hong Kong police officers, and Nick easily passed the audition.
