Poland considers sending strategic reserve to Afghanistan

WARSAW, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- The Defense Ministry of Poland is considering whether or not to send a 200-strong strategic reserve to Afghanistan, Polish news agency PAP reported on Tuesday.

Deputy Defense Minister Stanislaw Komorowski confirmed that the analysis of the possible Polish move are being made.

Poland, responsible for security in Ghazni province of Afghanistan, has deployed some 2,000 soldiers, part of the NATO-led multinational peacekeeping force International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

Recently Taliban militants has stepped up massive attacks on coalition troops in connection with Afghanistan's presidential elections and elections to provinces' councils scheduled for Aug. 20.

Meanwhile, the body of a Polish soldier that went missing after a Taliban attack on a patrol in the Afghan district of Ajiristan on Monday was found on Tuesday, according to PAP. The soldier is the 10th Polish soldier killed in Afghanistan.
