Prince Gong's Mansion

Prince Gong's Mansion is Beijing's largest and best preserved Qing Dynasty mansion. Constructed in 1777, the mansion was the former residence of He Shen, a high official of the Qing Court. Located at the southwest corner of Shichahai area, Prince Gong's Mansion was listed as a national protection site in 1982. The complex covers a total of 60,000 square meters. Over half of the area was devoted to an opulent garden.

The main and central sections comprise a grand hall to entertain guests. A theatre stands to the east and a pavilion to the west.

The mansion is a fine example of ancient Chinese architecture. This mansion is an asset for those who wish to experience elite lifestyles of the Qing dynasty.
