Shanghai is a happier place today as local residents begin a smile campaign for the upcoming 2010 World Expo, which is being held in China for the first time.
A ceremony to launch the smile drive was held on Tuesday at the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum. In attendance were hundreds of youngsters, most of whom were middle-school and college students. The half-year campaign will reach across the Chinese mainland and cover all major cities.
The smile campaign will raise public awareness for the global event by collecting a million photos of smiles.
