The Global South Creative Economy Forum has opened in Shanghai. A highlight of the forum is a symposium discussing the creative industries, with representatives from UNESCO and South America participating.

The symposium discussed the role creative industries play in modern society, particularly against the backdrop of global economic slow-down. Another focus was the 2010 Shanghai World Expo. Experts from Brazil, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, and representatives from UNESCO joined the discussion and took turns giving presentations.

The symposium brings experts from developing countries to a forum at which they may better understand the dynamics of the creative economy.
