Chinese vice president, Hungarian PM meet on bilateral ties

BUDAPEST, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Visiting Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping met here Friday with Hungarian Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai on bilateral ties.

Xi said the year 2009 is of great significance for both China and the Chinese-Hungarian relations, as it marks the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China as well as the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Xi expressed the hope that his visit would further strengthen the traditional friendship, upgrade mutually beneficial cooperation and push forward the friendly and cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Since the establishment of the friendly and cooperative partnership between China and Hungary in 2004, bilateral ties have turned to a new page, marked with frequent high-level contacts, enhanced mutual political trust, fruitful economic and trade cooperation, strengthened personnel and cultural exchanges, and close coordination on international and regional issues, said the vice president.
