MADRID, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos on Sunday began his two-day visit to Cuba to enhance dialogue and cooperation.

The visit aims to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between Spain, the European Union (EU) and the island ahead of the Spanish presidency of the EU in the first half of 2010.

On Monday, Moratinos will meet his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez, before paying homage to the monument in memory of Cuban national hero Jose Marti.

The Spanish Foreign Ministry has not ruled out the possibility of Moratinos' meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro and former leader Fidel Castro, as he did during his last visit to the island in 2007.
