Comedy film "Stubborn Radish", directed by junior filmmaker Tian Meng and starring Huang Bo, Huang Yi, and Du Haitao, was released in Beijing at a press conference on Monday. Huang Bo, the young and talented comedian, stole the limelight.
First appearing in 2006's "Crazy Stone", Huang has jumped to the top of the comedian list in the Chinese mainland. Each year he performs in four or five movies. 2009 is absolutely the height of his career with eight films coming out, and they're not all comedies. Huang has become a reason for quite a lot of audience members to go to the cinema.
Before the 2009 hit movie "Crazy Racer", Huang Bo was a golden supporting role actor. He was the first choice for playing migrant workers and thieves, always in Shandong accent and dressed raggedly. Even in "Crazy Racer" as the title character, he was a unlucky cycler.
Before entering the entertainment field, Huang Bo had seven years experience as a singer in a pub. Meanwhile, he also taught dancing. He opened a factory, a toy store, and even now he has a company under his name. While both of his parents are conservative government officials, he has been more of a social butterfly, pursuing multiple interests.
Not exactly a model student, Huang Bo started to participate in singing contests since middle school. And during high school, he became a restaurant singer. His salary for singing was much more than his parents' wages, and his parents gradually realized that Huang was not made for study.
A he sang pop songs, Huang Bo had never stopped writing them. But he failed to develop his career and finally he returned to his home Qingdao, a coastal city in East China's Shandong Province.
