BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- There must have been no grumbles when sleepy-eyed kids in Beijing were dragged out of their beds Sunday morning, as the city's first snowfall this winter capped roofs and lawn in every neighborhood.

The snow, which started in the wee hours and is getting heavier, covered most of the city proper.
Beijing Weather Modification Office said they had used artificial means to increase the snow to ease the lingering drought.
The snow, which local media called a "gift", however, is expected to bring troubles to the city's traffic.
