Cuba, Turkey begin 9th intergovernmental meeting in Havana

HAVANA, Oct. 30 (Xinhua) -- The 9th session of the Cuba-Turkey Intergovernmental Commission, aimed at exploring new cooperation opportunities between the two nations, began Friday in Havana.

Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Cemil Cicek and Cuban Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Rodrigo Malmierca co-chaired the meeting.

During the inauguration, Cicek said a range of areas including construction, investment, agriculture and academic exchange were under examination by the Turkish delegation in a bid to reach agreements for bilateral cooperation in these areas.

Malmierca urged both nations to develop viable measures to implement these agreements.

The agenda of the Turkish delegation also includes attending the inauguration of the Turkish Pottery Expo and visiting the Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute, among others.
