Among the typhoon-hit provinces, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Khanh Hoa were the three worst-striken ones, said the newspaper.

In central Phu Yen province, the typhoon left at least 21 people dead, two missing and 13 other injured, according to an initial accounts of the provincial steering committee for flood and storm prevention and control.

The typhoon damaged over 4,000 houses. Thousands of local people are made homeless. A large area of Phu Yen province was deep under the flood water, said the local steering committee.

In central Binh Dinh province, the floods caused at least five deaths, two missing and 15 others injured. About 5,000 houses were destroyed and submerged in the water, said the provincial people's committee.
