UN report on resolution 1701 unjust: Hezbollah

BEIRUT, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese Shiite armed group Hezbollah said Thursday that a UN report on resolution 1701 was "unjust", saying that it described incidents in south Lebanon without detailing Israeli violations of Lebanese sovereignty.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the group wondered why the report described in "passing words" the Israeli violations of Lebanese land and airspace while it mentioned in length every incident on the Lebanese territory.

"The report should have shed light on Israeli violations that cause worries and instability in the region," the statement added.

The resolution 1701 ended the 2006 summer war between Hezbollah and Israel, which provides that Lebanese sovereignty be respected along with its borders and outlaws the presence of weapons in Lebanon outside of the state's control.

The latest report of the implementation of resolution 1701, which is the 11th one made on Tuesday, reviewed Israel's violations of Lebanese land and air space, and a series of incident happened in south Lebanon in recent months, such as rocket launches on Oct. 28 and Sept. 11 and the suspected rockets blasts in a Hezbollah official's home in October and in a deserted Hezbollah arms depot in July.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in the report that the presence of armed groups in Lebanon represents a threat for the state's ability to enjoy its complete sovereignty and control over its land, reiterating in the resolution's requirement of "the disarmament of groups," including Hezbollah.
