RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Brazilian star midfielder Roberto Carlos has already spoken about his future at Corinthians although he and the home club's deal is not yet finalized.

Both Carlos and the soccer club have made verbal agreements that would keep the player in a Corinthians uniform for two years. The player's main attraction at Corinthians is not only to play in the 2010 Libertadores Cup, but to win it.

"The Libertadores Cup is not a challenge. It is more of an obligation. The president of Corinthians wants to put together a great team of athletes for next year. The Libertadores is a tournament that I have not yet won. I twice won the European Cup and now am interested in winning the Libertadores Cup," Carlos said on Monday.

Carlos will learn more about his request for an early closure to his contract with the Turkish team of Fenerbache on November 18when he meets with the club's head administrators.

Despite Fenerbache holding a contract with Carlos until June of 2010, the midfielder hopes that he can make a deal that will end his contract by the end of 2009, beginning a new career at Corinthians in 2010.

A decisive factor in the player's decision to play for Corinthians is due to the fact that the other team interested in him, Santos, has not offered any sort of guarantee like the Corinthians have allegedly offered.

Corinthians' team president Andres Sanchez has been in constant contact with Carlos, easing any sort of doubts that the player has in relation to returning to Brazil to play.
