BERLIN, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Former basketball star Dennis Rodman was released after he paid out a euro 3,400 bill at a German hotel, a prosecution official said Monday.
Senior prosecutor Juergen Bauer said that Rodman had played in a "USA Legends of Basketball" exhibition game in the western town of Trier and threw a party afterward at his hotel.
The game organizers picked up the bill for Rodman's overnight stay at the hotel not including the additional 3,400 euro for beverages comsumed at the party.
Rodman left the hotel Monday morning without paying the bill and the hotel called the police.
Police found Rodman' s stretch limo on the highway and detained him.
Rodman then paid the outstanding bill along with an additional euro 1,700 to dismiss possible legal proceedings, the prosecutor said.
