"Electro Tech 2009" expo to be held in Nepal

KATHMANDU, Nov. 17 (Xinhua) -- Nepal Electrical Association is geared up for the fifth international electrical-electronic products' exhibition and symposium "Electro Tech 2009" which will be held from Dec. 1 to 5, local media reported Tuesday.

According to local newspaper The Himalayan Times, the exhibition and symposium is targeted at making people aware of electronic items available in the world market as well as the importance of electronic usage while conserving energy methods.

"Now 125 of the targeted 175 stalls have already been booked," The Himalayan Times cited Govinda Prasad Kandel, president and coordinator Nepal Electrical Association said as saying.

"This is not going to be a buy and sell expo. Instead we are aiming at providing awareness to people about the importance of energy saving and are going by the motto -- Save energy, protect the environment," he added.

The Himalayan Times reported around 45,000 people are expected to visit the expo over a period of five days.

The association has decided to hold seminars on alternative energy as well as power saving methods. The expo will be held at Bhrikuti Mandap's exhibition hall in Nepali capital Kathmandu.
