A newly adapted drama Lulu Listen To Me, based on the Broadway musical Sylvia, has just finished its run in Shanghai. The play offers audiences a chance to re-examine the meaning of life, both artistically and philosophically.
The original Broadway show has been adapted into a stage play that's a one hundred percent Taiwan-flavor piece, for the leading cast are all from Taiwan, including Jeff Chang and Tarcy Su.
It's the story of a husband who brings home a stray dog named Lulu. Unfortunately his wife doesn't like Lulu and finds her to be a threat to their marriage. The dog creates a series complex and hilarious situations in the life of the couple.
Tarcy Su challenges herself to play the lovely dog Lulu. Su admitted that she made a radical switch from her previous sweet style. She said the role offered her opportunities to reveal different sides.
Although the stage play is saturated with light-hearted laughs, cast members say they hope the audience will also ponder the seemingly complicated interpersonal relationship of the couple.
Lulu Listen to Me will be open later this week in Hangzhou. The show will hit the stage December the 12th and the 13th at the Beijing Exhibition Center Theater, the last stop of its performing tour on the mainland.
