In the movie CJ-7, Zhang Yuqi gained instant fame throughout China. That success brought her roles in a string of other big and small screen productions and TV commercials. Now, the 23 year old Zhang is trying to build a solid career on her talent as an actor.

In Arrival of Fortune God, Zhang Yuqi plays opposite Chen Chang in a story about a pair of young lovers. The movie is directed by James Yuen and supervised by Huang Yuetai. The cast includes big names like Alan Tan, Tao Hong, and Zhang Rongrong.

In Jumping Out, directed by Stephen Fung and supervised by Stephen Chow, Zhang Yuqi played a country girl with a passion for hip-hop music.

At 23, Zhang Yuqi is experiencing the first peak of her career as an entertainer.

Leaving her hometown in Shandong at 15, she signed with Stephen Chow's talent agency three years later. It was the turning point for Zhang, who had played extras in TV dramas and appeared in commercials for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Stephen Chow, a famous actor and filmmaker, reportedly chose Zhang Yuqi largely for her good looks. It was during a beauty contest sponsored by Stephen Chow's company that Zhang Yuqi first distinguished herself and landed the crucial contract with Stephen Chow.

Zhang Yuqi was then given arduous training in acting, dancing, and singing.

In the sci-fi movie CJ-7, Zhang Yuqi played a young teacher. In the urban drama All About Women, she was a 31-year-old bank executive emotionally involved with her friends and other men. Zhang Yuqi brought a touch of rebelliousness to these roles.

Among other movies to her credits are Shaolin Girls supervised by Stephen Chow and Jumping Out directed by Stephen Fung.

In 2007, Zhang Yuqi also appeared in the movie Night of Shanghai.

Because she was signed by Stephen Chow, Zhang Yuqi is widely envied for her good luck. However, luck is often not enough to go far in the entertainment industry. With her talent, hard work, and aspiration, Zhang Yuqi is well placed to build a promising career.
