This is the first time such an event has ever been documented.
For having dodged the clutches of seabirds and the beaks of sea turtles, this doomed moon jellyfish is now being sucked into the parted mouth of a mushroom coral.

Scientists found the coral (Fungia scruposa) munching the jellyfish when conducting a survey of Red Sea reefs near Eliat in Israel.
The jellyfish (Aurelia aurita) were present in large numbers due to a seasonal bloom caused by ocean currents which created a rising up of nutrients.
The pictures were taken on a dive by Omri Bronstein from Tel Aviv University and Gal Dishon from Bar-Ilan University, Ramat Gan earlier this year.
