Located in the Hengchun Peninsula of Pingtung County, Kenting National Park is known as Taiwan's oldest national park. It was established on January 1, 1984.

Lying in the southernmost region of Taiwan island, the park also covers Hengchun, Checheng and Manjhou townships. Kenting National Park is famous for its tropical climate, sunshine, scenic mountains and beaches. Wtih the Spring Scream rock-band festival held here every March, the park has long been one of the most famous scenic areas in Taiwan.

I had been planning a trip to Kenting for a long time before I was finally able to make it on December 3, 2009, although winter was not the most suitable season to visit the place.
