KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 15 (Xinhua) -- The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) on Tuesday expressed concerns over Iran's nuclear issue and welcomed international efforts to seek peaceful solution through diplomatic means.

In the final communique of the 30th summit of GCC leaders, the GCC called on all related parties to work for a political settlement that would eliminate doubts over the nature of the Iranian nuclear issue.

The GCC emphasized the right of all countries in the region to have peaceful nuclear energy within the framework of international agreements, based on regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency and under its supervision.

The United States and other Western powers have long accused Iran of engaging in nuclear weapon programs, but Tehran insists its nuclear efforts are for civilian purposes.

The GCC was established in 1981 and groups Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The six oil-exporters sit on the Arab Peninsula across the Gulf from Iran.
