Mother-to-be swims with dolphin

2010-01-18 17:25 BJT

NOSY dolphins gave two expectant mums some unexpected attention while they were snorkelling in Hawaii.

The inquisitive mammals dropped their guard and flocked around Brianne Droscoski, 30, and pal Jen Groark, 35, when they went for a dip in the balmy sea.

Ignoring their husbands, the animals showed an intense fascination in the women's baby bumps last month as they swam at Kealakekua Bay on Big island.

Scientists believe dolphins can "see" unborn babies with their highly sophisticated ultrasound detection systems.

It is the natural phenomenon hospital scanning systems are based on.

Brianne gave birth to one-month-old baby boy, Mason, just two weeks after their watery encounter. Jen is due in May.
