WARSAW, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) -- Poland's President Lech Kaczynski met with visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu here on Tuesday to discuss what they termed as very good relations between the two countries.

"There is still potential to boost the relations, especially in science, technology, the military industry," said Netanyahu, who is on a visit to Poland to attend ceremonies marking the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazis' biggest concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau on Wednesday.

The two also discussed the situation in the Middle East and prospects of the Middle East peace process, according to the Polish news agency PAP.

Kaczynski declared that Poland invariably comes out for the existence of two states -- Palestine and Israel.

Also on Tuesday the Israeli prime minister met with his Polish counterpart Donald Tusk to discuss bilateral relations, the situation in the Middle East and the ceremonies marking the 65th anniversary of Auschwitz liberation.

Polish-Israeli consultations, with the two prime ministers in attendance, will be held at least once a year, Tusk said.

Tusk stressed that the meeting confirmed very good relations between Poland and Israel. Poland and Israel have similar opinions in the area of international policy, Tusk said.

For many years Poland has actively supported the peace process in the Middle East, Tusk said. The agreement for peace and development in the Middle East should be based on the principle of the "two states" -- Israel and Palestine, peacefully co-existing, Tusk noted.
