JERUSALEM, Feb. 9 (Xinhua) -- The Union Motors, Israel's official importer of Toyota, announced Tuesday that it would recall 1,335 Prius cars to fix brake problem, as part of a global recall by the Japanese automaker, said local daily Ha'aretz on its website.

In its message to the car owners, the Union Motors said that the cars will be recalled to repair brake pedal. However, the company denied that the brake itself is defective, describing the problem as "faulty feeling," according to the report.

This is the latest plan to recall faulty Toyota vehicles in Israel. Importers said Sunday that there are more than 32,000 Israeli Toyota car owners who need have a faulty accelerator pedal fixed, reported Ha'aretz earlier.

Toyota Motor Corp., the world's largest carmaker, on Tuesday formally filed with the Japanese transport ministry for a recall of 223,068 vehicles in Japan, mostly the latest model of Prius. The recall will start from Wednesday in Japan, followed by the United States, Europe, and other countries and regions.

It is estimated that the vehicles affected by the recall plan will exceed 400,000 across the world.
