Alishan cherry blossom season starts in Mid-March

From March 15, the annual Alishan Cherry Blossom Season will begin at Ali Mountain in southern Taiwan. Through mid-April, a variety of cherry blossoms will showcase their beauty in a dazzling floral display that awes visitors.

Of the great variety of cherry trees found in the Alishan area, the white-blossomed Yoshino cherry trees from Japan are the most famous. Alishan is the only place in Taiwan with such a large area of Yoshino cherry tree coverage.

Alishan Mountain in Chiayi County is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Taiwan, offering famous views of the beautiful sunrise, serene mountain landscapes and ancient trees.With an altitude above 2,000 meters, Alishan is home to a wide variety of plants and creatures. The peak time to visit Alishan is March through April, when pink and white cherry blossoms bloom, seeking visitor's attention.

Besides Alishan, many other scenic spots in Taiwan, including Yangmingshan, Yilan and Nantou, are all favorite destinations for enjoying cherry blossoms.
