Quake Relief in Action: Panchen Lama donates to quake relief in NW China

BEIJING, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The 11th Panchen Lama, Bainqen Erdini Qoigyijabu, has donated 100,000 yuan to help quake relief in the northwestern province of Qinghai.

He also asked Tibetan monks at the Zhaxi Lhunbo Lamasery, the seat of successive Panchen Lamas in Tibet's Xigaze, to pray for the quake victims.

The 7.1-magnitude quake, which struck the Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Yushu in southern Qinghai early Wednesday, has left 760 dead, 243 missing and more than 10,000 injured as of 5 p.m. Thursday.
