BISHKEK, April 19 (Xinhua) -- At least two people died and 15 others were injured in clashes between assailants, looters and residents of the village of Mayevka near Bishkek, the Kyrgyz Health Ministry told the Interfax news agency on Monday.

Two men were killed and three others were in critical condition, the ministry said.

"A man with a gunshot wound was rushed to a hospital and he is in a state of clinical death now," the ministry said earlier.

"Four people have been hospitalized. Many houses are in flames. The village is filled with thick smoke, according to the rescue teams arriving at the village," the source was quoted as saying by Interfax.

The outcome of the unrest could be much worse, the source said.

Over 50 assailants were detained and moved out of the village of Mayevka, and additional troops and police forces were dispatched to the village, a police source told Interfax.
