BEIJING, April 22 (Xinhuanet) -- The social-networking giant Facebook Wednesday unfurled new features that let its members see what their friends like on websites they visit elsewhere.
The changes, announced at a developers conference in Los Angeles, mean a more personalized and social Web, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.
With more than 400 million users, Facebook is already one of the Web's most popular destinations.
While signed into Facebook, users will be able to see their friends' comments flowing from other websites as their buddies shop, read news articles or listen to songs by their favorite artists.
The latest changes take further the concept of Facebook Connect — which lets people use their Facebook log-ins to sign in to other websites.
"Marketers want to leverage Facebook outside of Facebook," said Seth Goldstein, co-founder of SocialMedia, an advertising network for social-media services such as Facebook. "Historically, Facebook has been very controlling of how data can be used outside of Facebook. This presents a huge marketing opportunity."
Jon Siegal, CEO of FanAppz, a Facebook app added that helps businesses and public figures monetize their social-networking fan base: "Facebook just made social networking more social."
While the move could change the way people experience the online world and appeal to marketers, it could also spark privacy concerns.
