WASHINGTON, April 22 (Xinhua) -- U.S. Vice President Joe Biden said Thursday that the United Nations will announce new sanctions on Iran over its nuclear program soon.

"Everyone from the Israeli prime minister straight through to the British prime minister to the president of Russia, everyone agrees the next step we should take is the UN sanction route," Biden said.

"I believe you will see a sanction regime coming out by the end of this month, beginning of next month," he said during a TV interview with ABC's "The View."

Meanwhile, Biden said that he was sure Israel has no plans to attack Iran.

"They're not going to do that," Biden said when asked about whether the United States was concerned that Israel might attack Iran.

Israel has agreed to await the outcome of diplomatic measures taken by the international community against Tehran, Biden said.

The West accused Iran of seeking nuclear weapons. But Iran denies the allegations and insists its nuclear program is for peaceful purpose only.
