Lily Lyu is an anchor and market editor for BizAsia on CCTV-NEWS. She co-hosts the show weekdays at 4pm and 9pm Beijing time. She covers Asian stock markets on a daily basis, talk to reporters and analysts in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo and New Delhi live on the show.
She re-joined CCTV in 2011 after years of experience in media and corporate, and combined those with a passion for business and financial news. She used to work with the English news service of Shanghai Television, and in the meantime, reported for CNN World Report.
She has reported on a number of topics that reflects China’s economic growth in a global background. She talks to economists, analysts, businessmen and government officials on the show.
Lily’s practice in journalism dates back in her school years when she worked with the Shanghai Film and TV Festivals, interned at TV stations. Apart from news programs, she’s also worked as a presenter for TV gala shows and talk shows.
Prior to this, she had solid experience in corporate life. She worked with multi-national firms and financial institutions, including BP China and Goldman Sachs, on government and media relations in China, consulting them on messaging and crisis management.
She has also worked as a column writer, radio DJ and high school English teacher.
Lily received an MA in International Public Relations from the School of Journalism, Cardiff University, UK, and holds a BA in International Journalism from China University of Communications.
She loves reading, swimming and travelling, has visited places from the Sahara desert in Africa to the one and only Antarctica. Travelling greatly enriches her personality, as she appreciates the beauty of nature and respects different cultures and religions. This helps her better understands the mindsets mindsets behind social and economic behaviours.
