At China Open, Tian Pengfei had a busy time at the snooker table on Wednesday. The Chinese potter first had to face Barry Hawkins, and after beating one Englishman, he would then take on another in the form of Michael Holt, for a spot in the Last 16.

Due to the apparently packed tournament schedule, Tian would have to do double duty. His morning starts with a four hour match against Hawkins, which he wins 5 frames to 4 to reach the Round of 32. He then returns to face Holt in the evening, with his task made more difficult due to jet lag from recent travel.

But the 28-year-old is on a good run here in Beijing and feeling confident. He opens the session by taking a 2-0 lead.

But with a top break of 133, Holt claims the third frame before Tian regains control by winning the fifth, and going ahead 4-1.

Holt would take the next frame, but Tian then wins the seventh frame with a break of 101 for a 5-2 victory, and a berth in the Last 16.

15-year-old Chinese rising star stopped in Round of 32

This is 15-year-old Chinese phenom Yuan Sijun looking to continue his Cinderella run, as the youngster takes on the former world champion and China Open winner from Scotland, Graeme Dott, in the Round of 32. And Yuan starts well by grabbing the first frame.

The experienced Dott would take a more defensive approach in the second, and that results in more errors from the Chinese, as Dott goes up 2-1 before Yuan draws level.

And when the Scot sinks this black, he is on his way to claiming the fifth frame for a 3-2 lead.

In the sixth, Yuan misses this pink, and confounded by one snooked after another, he is unable to find a rhythm as he goes on to lose 5-2, but gains some valuable experience, while Dott moves on to the Last 16.
