At Snooker's China Open, Tian Pengfei took on Englishman Ricky Walden for a spot in the quarter-finals.

After getting past Barry Hawkins earlier in the event, Tian was full of confidence, but as the only player representing the Chinese mainland left in the tournament, the pressure was on the 29-year-old to keep flying the flag for his country.

Walden enjoyed a return to form at last week's Players Championship, where he lost in the final.

The Englishman is able to keep his momentum going in the Chinese capital with breaks of 56, 135, 84, and 59 which help him build a 4-2 lead early on.

Tian fights back to tie things at 4 with runs of 87 and 64. Leading 27-0 in the decider, he isn't able to capitalize on his good start and some poor position play lets Walden back into the frame.

The Englishman comes back strongly to take the frame and win the contest 5-4 and advance to the last 8.

Juddernaut to play King in the Last Eight

Elsewhere Hong Kong's Marco Fu is taking on Judd Trump also for a place in the quarters.

Trump had the upper hand having won 9 of their 12 previous encounters and that continues after less than an hour of play. Juddernaut defeats Fu 5-1 in 57 minutes to book his place in the last 8.

Breaks of 109, 67, 77, and 110 leave Fu with no answer as he is comprehensivly beaten by the former world number 1.

Next up for the Englishman is Mark King later today for a spot in the semis.

World No.2 chases first title since World Championship win

Also looking for a semi-final berth are Stuart Bingham and Rod Lawler. Bingham takes a 2-nil lead early on only to be pegged back Lawler who makes things level at 2 apiece.

But Bingham, who is chasing his first title since becoming World Champion last May, would dominated after the interval and go on to win the last 3 frames for a 5-2 win.
