China's icebreaker 'Xue Long' returns to Shanghai

China's icebreaker "Xue Long", or "Snow Dragon", has completed its 32nd Antarctic exploration, and arrived back in Shanghai. The latest Antarctic exploration left from Shanghai in November, 2015, setting off on an epic 30,000 nautical mile journey.

It's trip set a new record for the greatest south latitude reached by a Chinese Antarctic exploration vessel. 45 scientific expedition projects and 30 logistic construction projects were completed during the mission.

And test flights of China's first fixed-wing aircraft for polar explorations was also successfully conducted. Scientists tested the flight characteristics of the fixed-wing aircraft, Snow Eagle 601, under the climatic conditions of Antarctica.
