Viewers have responded to the video with new resolutions and in some cases, generosity. Here's an online-comment that says 'Be independent and beautiful. The message completely won me over. I'm buying the brand's product from now on.'

And this one says, "I cried over the video and completely agree. Women need to have a good value system. Marriage is not a must." Comments aside, here are the statistics for China's singles. According to the Ministry of Civil Affairs, there are almost 200 million unmarried men and women in China as of 2015. More than 58 million of them are living on their own.

Some regions now count nearly 30 percent of all their adult population as unmarried, including Guangdong province, Hainan province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
