Syria's main opposition group -- the High Negotiations Committee or the HNC -- has claimed that President Bashar al-Assad and his government are responsible for Tuesday's deadly airstrikes in the country's north-west, and are therefore violating the ongoing nationwide ceasefire agreement. In light of this, the committee decided to withdraw its negotiators from the peace talks in Geneva.

"I believe we made the right decision. What we're having for the last few days is really a great deal of pressure because of the crimes that Assad is committing in Syria. He does not respect the truce, the agreement by Russia and the United States," HMC spokesman Salim Al Muslat said.
