Britain's foreign secretary has said he could not rule out sending troops to Libya if requested by the Libyan government.

Philip Hammond said on Sunday that Libya is not likely to invite foreign military intervention. He highlighted  that an ISIL stronghold in the country could pose a risk to mainland Europe. ISIL has lost enormous grounds in Syria and Iraq due to the US and Russia's airstrikes. The US government has estimated that ISIL militants are moving to North and West Africa.

The number of Libyan militants loyal to extremist groups have soared from one thousand five hundred to around six thousand.
