More than 1,600 automobile companies from 14 countries and regions will be at this year's Beijing Auto show. A total of 1,179 cars including concept vehicles are on exhibition. One hundred and forty seven of the vehicles are green energy cars.

Chinese auto sales in March hit 2.44 million units. That's up 8.8 percent from the previous year. Sales of new energy cars get a boost from the government's preferential policies in tax reduction and plate auctions. Sales in the sector hit 22,936 units, up 46 percent from the previous year.

Turning to China's luxury car market. But first of all, who are the Chinese luxury car owners? A Hurun survey of 1,350 Chinese car owners from 10 cities shows that people under 33 years old with a monthly household income of 90,000 yuan have a stronger tendency to buy a luxury car. The top five favorite brands are BMW, Porsche, Mercedes Benz, Audi and Land Rover.
