The 2015 animation blockbuster, "Monkey King -- Hero is Back", took First Prize in the Animated-Feature-Film category, consistent with both the domestic and international acclaim it has received.
"Monkey King" also raked in about 1 billion yuan at the box office, setting a new record for a domestic animated feature film.
In the TV-Animation-Series category, "Dreams of Stars", produced by China Central Television, grabbed the top award. The 50-episode series is a co-creation involving nearly a hundred directors from around China. This year's animation festival also included exhibitions and contests; screenings of classic animations; a cosplay show; a summit forum; merchandising; and a job fair.
Initiated in 2005, the six-day China International Cartoon and Animation Festival aims to foster cooperation, competition, and development between cartoon organizations from home and abroad. It's China's largest animation expo.
