One of the world's largest tech events, the Global Mobile Internet Conference, has wrapped up today in Beijing. The event attracted thousands of tech freaks and geeks and a human-like robot 'Sophia' has stolen the show.
Sophia can show more than 62 facial expressions, and speak English and Mandarin Chinese. Technologies including Alphabet's Google Chrome voice recognition system, also enable Sophia to process speech and chat.
Sophia says:"Hello everybody, I'm Sophia, the latest robot from Hanson Robotics. I'm proud to be here at the GMIC in beautiful Beijing, China."
"We're scaling the manufacturing of our "Sophia" robot platform to address entertainment, customer service and medical applications. We are selling to our customer partners, and eventually we will have a mass release of Sophia. We expect that she will be very useful in China for helping teach science, and perform many other helper applications," said Dr. David Hanson, Founder & CEO of Hanson Robotics.
