A suicide car bomb blast has killed two police officers and injured 22 others in the southeastern Turkish city of Gaziantep. This is the third attack in several days on security forces. In the other two attacks 3 soldiers were killed and dozens wounded.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility. But security sources say Islamic State militants may be behind the attack. Police have raided the home of a suspected Islamic State militant and detained his father for DNA tests and questioning. Turkey has suffered attacks recently both by Kurdish militants and members of Islamic State.

The city of Gaziantep is just 65 km from the Syrian border. The series of attacks have raised concerns in the country and among NATO allies about the increasing spillover of conflict from neighbouring Syria.
