Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has visited a refugee camp for Syrians in Lebanon. During his one-day visit Tuesday, he pledged 80 million euros for Lebanon to cope with the crisis. He also urged collective work to help refugees return home.

"We are deeply touched by what we saw here, the settlement, good work being done by UNHCR and the impressive situation of how people are living here, and the fact that Lebanon is doing its best to host so many people in this country, over a million,” Rutte said.

"It might even be a million and a half people who are fleeing from bombs and very dangerous situations inside Syria, and they all hope to get back into Syria, they all hope to get back.

"And what we are doing is helping here with money and support UNHCR to improve living conditions, but also we hope that we can collectively work on the situation in Syria so people can go back.”
