In the second round of the Madrid Open, the King of Clay Rafael Nadal continued his resurgence on his favourite surface as he looks ahead to the French Open. The Spaniard took on Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov in the second round with a chance to extend his ten match winning streak.

Nadal in the near court would get off to a flying start to build a 3-0 lead and now has break point. Rafa has not lost since his opening match at the Miami Open in March and is coming off consecutive titles at the Monte Carlo Masters and Barcelona Open. Kuzetsov goes for a backhand slice and Nadal steps in to a forehand to take the game and he later wins the first set 6-3.

The second set would be similar and Nadal now has match point lurking in the shadows. Kuznetsov stabs a forehand back and it's going to sail long and Rafa is on to the third round.

World No. 2 from Scotland advances to third round

Andy Murray in the near court squars off against veteran Radek Stepanek. The World  number two comes to the net and takes this point with a volley en route to winning the first set in a tiebreaker.

But Stepanek battles back in the second as the wily Czech shows off his hands in this exchange finally taking it with a backhand and later the set 6-3.

But it's all Murray in the second. Stepanek returns into the net on match point to win the frame 6-1 and continue his title defense.
