Front-runner Donald Trump swept to victory in the primary, while Ted Cruz bowed out of the race.

The New York billionaire Trump, who has never held public office, had repeatedly defied predictions that his campaign would implode. His win in Indiana pushed his delegate count over 1,000, not far to go until the magic number of 1,237 needed to secure the party nomination.

Texas senator Ted Cruz dropped out as the count flowed in, leaving just the low-polling John Kasich as Trump’s challenger.

On the Democratic side, Bernie Sanders won against Hillary Clinton. Sanders has 1,400 of the 2,383 delegates needed to clinch the nomination, while Clinton still leads with more than 2,200.
