The new generation of China's Long March rockets also includes the Long March-5 and 6.
The Long March 6 made its debut last September. It's only half as long as the Long March 2, but it's set several records. It's the first Chinese rocket to use an environmentally-friendly, indigenously developed, kerosene and liquid oxygen propellant. It's also the first in China to launch 20 satellites at a time. Preparations for the launch took only seven days.
The Long March-5 is scheduled for launch at the end of this year. Its 5-meter diameter can hold a payload over 2-and-a-half times greater than rockets' now in service. The Long March-5 will be tasked with Phase 3 of the lunar exploration program and space station building.
