China's consumer prices up 2.3%, producer prices fell 3.4%

Fresh data this morning show that China's consumer prices rose 2.3 percent in April from the same period last year, the same pace as in March and slightly less than expected.

Data also showed  that producer prices fell 3.4 percent, a slightly smaller decline than expected and easing from the previous month's fall of 4.3 percent.
